An array of open-air activities await, from meandering woodland hikes to scenic cycling routes. We stock maps of our favourite local trails so guests can embark on a hassle-free, self-guided excursion.

• Nature Walk: Scattered around our property lie several spectacular nature reserves with a diverse display of native flora and fauna. Easy-going hiking routes slither between these lush, untouched landscapes, perfect for slow-paced exploration. Visit Het Zwin, Waterdunen, or the Polders to wander along the most endearing local trails.
• Farm to Village: Waterland-Oudeman boasts a proud agricultural past dating back centuries. We’ve developed a special farm-to-village walk to showcase these long-standing traditions. Discover quaint village homes and fertile regional farms on this leisurely rural stroll.
• Silence Walk: Our uncrowded region is famous for its serenity, a much-needed remedy for guests escaping the city. We’ve devised a short, peaceful walk where you’ll hear nothing but the gentle rustle of an afternoon breeze.
• Creek Visits: The Zwin region is home to countless trickling creeks, many the remnants of turf holes washed out to sea. Several scenic streams flow within walking distance of our property, an idyllic setting for a quiet picnic lunch.

Located 1.5 km away lies Het Waterland, the family's eco-friendly farm. Run by Dries' brother Tim, this sustainable rural estate exemplifies our region's natural beauty and time-old agricultural traditions.

Het Waterland supplies quality ingredients to local establishments (including Tafel Twaalf) to minimise food miles.

Guests can take an insightful two-hour tour to learn how sustainable farming practices preserve our fragile ecosystem (fee applies).

1. The Polders - the most endearing local trails (walking maps can be found at the property). Visit some of our most beautiful creeks nearby:
   • OUDEMANSKREEK - Near the lovely Oudemanskreek (Old Man’s Creek), one can enjoy the scenery and tranquility, or a bite at “De Roste Muis”.
   • BLOKKREEK - A beautiful creek which is also very popular with fishermen. The creek is rich in special plant and animal species and guarantees a gorgeous walk.
   • DE BOEREKREEK - The Boerekreek is 6 km long and therefore the largest creek in East Flanders: a charming area where the young and the elderly can enjoy nature. A little further is the Oostpolderkreek, where you will find a nice jetty.
   • MILL CREEK - A small creek with a possibility of a lovely walk through the fields.
   • DE ROESELAREKREEK - The Roeselarekreek is named after the disappeared village of New Roeselare which was wiped off the map during the flood of 1375-1376.
   • VROUWKENSHOEKKREEK - An old creek that has recently been restored to its former glory.
2. WATERDUNEN - A special area on the border of the land and the sea in the province of Zeeland. Between Groede and Breskens, along the waterline, the Netherlands.
3. HET ZWIN - The Zwin Nature Park is an interactive nature experience park for the whole family. Gerrit van Hoekestraat 2, 4525 NH Retranchement, the Netherlands.
4. PONTEBOS - A young deciduous forest with several hiking trails a few km away from Stil 1827, just across the border. Oudemansdijk 3, 4515 RM IJzendijke, the Netherlands.

Dear Guests,

When you and your loved ones enjoy an exclusive stay at Stil 1827, you may have a few questions that go beyond those typically associated with a hotel room stay.

Please note that we play lounge music in the common areas during daytime hours to create a pleasant atmosphere. If you would prefer to listen to your own music, feel free to contact us and we will gladly switch off our playlist.

For your convenience, a JBL Bluetooth speaker is available for your use and can be found in one of the kitchen cabinets.

The trash bins might be getting full soon. Our trash container is located behind Kerkstraat 10, just a short walk away. It is a blue Renewi container for mixed waste. Glass containers are located behind the church of Waterland-Oudeman, on Appelstraat.

House Rules

We have a set of house rules to ensure the comfort and safety of all guests and to maintain the smooth operation of the business

1. Check-in and Check-out Times: The check-in begins at 16.00 and check-out is by 11.00am. Late check-out (30€ fee applies per room) may be possible, depending on availability.
2. Breakfast Schedule: Enjoy your breakfast at Tafel Twaalf just down the road at Kerkstraat 12 from 8.30am until 10.00am (suggested latest breakfast start time at 9.30am for you to enjoy the meal in no rush).
3. Quiet Hours 22.00-7.00: Stil 1827 is a place to stay still and unwind. We also have several communal areas, including our loggia, kitchen, garden, and wellness room. We request you treat these places with care and minimise noise to avoid disturbing other guests.
4. Wellness: Our wellness is available for a private reservation (slots of 2h) between 9.00am and 21.00. We kindly ask you to shower in the wellness room before enjoying the hot tub and sauna. Most of our wellness facilities are communal, so we request you wear a bathing suit in these shared areas. The sauna may be used without a bathing suit, but please sit on one of our towels.
5. No Smoking Policy: Smoking/vaping is not permitted inside or near the building for the comfort of all our guests. There is a dedicated smoking area in the garden.
6. Adult Only Property: We adore children for their innocent giggles and spritely smiles. However, to preserve our property’s tranquil atmosphere, Stil is an adults-only (18+) lodging. Should you wish to book the full property for your exclusive stay, your children are of course most welcome. Please, however, be aware that Stil 1827 is not childproof and the well being of your children is your responsibility. A cot and a baby chair are available upon request.
7. Pet Policy: As much as we love animals, we don’t accept pets at Stil to guarantee the comfort of all our guests. However, pets are permitted at Stil 1827 on request and for a full house booking only. Additional charges are applicable. Please contact us should you wish to bring your furry family member along to work out the details.
8. Damages and Losses: We understand accidents can happen — we're all human. Should you inadvertently damage any property in our B&B, please contact us as soon as possible. We will assess the situation and suggest a fair solution for everyone.
9. Safety and Security: Call 112 immediately in an emergency. If an issue with our property requires urgent attention, contact Fien at +32 497 70 00 65.
10. Payment and Cancellation Policies:
    No Charge - Full Deposit: If cancelled within 14 days of arrival
    Partial Charge - 75% of Full Stay: If cancelled within 7 days of arrival
    Full Charge - If cancelled within 3 days of arrival

Before a new code installation, a previous code reset is required. To reset the code:

1. Wide open the door
2. At the back of the door, open the battery case
3. Press the red button until you hear 2 beeps
4. A green light lights up on the front, indicating that the reset was successful

Now a new code (between 3-10 digits) can be installed. Enter the desired code, click on the check (V) button in the bottom right corner, and turn the handle to the left to lock. The same process is to be repeated to unlock the box.

Cycling is a popular pastime in the East Flanders region, where scenic roads straddle gurgling rivers and smooth pastoral lands. We offer secured storage in a refurbished garage on the side of the house to accommodate keen cyclists. The space hosts charging stations for e-bikes.

E-bike rental is also available at Stil 1827 (fees apply).

Hit the ground cycling!

For a cosy autumn and winter atmosphere (from September to March), light up the bioethanol fireplace in the living room. With just a simple push of a button (you should see the green light when it's on), you can turn the fireplace on and off. The advanced electronics will fill the burner with fuel and will light the fire automatically. Give it 30 seconds or so until the fire lights up.

Bathrobes are provided for your comfort during your stay with us, particularly if you wish to use these when enjoying the wellness area. Any robes removed from Stil 1827 will result in a charge applied.

We love Magin Linen products and hope you do too. Should you wish to purchase linens or bathrobes for private use, we can wholeheartedly recommend reaching out to the Magic Linen team.

There are also slippers available for you. Our slippers are reusable; therefore, please leave them at the property for future guests.

Located beside the loggia, this stylish, well-equipped facility is ideal for whipping up a mouthwatering meal. Whether you're preparing a fast, simple snack or a gourmet multi-course banquet, our kitchen lets your culinary creativity run wild.

A premium bulthaup workbench plus a plethora of modern appliances: a stove, combi oven, dishwasher, personal fridge - a separate fridge assigned to each room, etc., make for a hassle-free cooking experience. Once you're ready, nestle into the long table in the loggia to feast on your freshly prepared meal.

Our floor heating & cooling on the ground floor is geothermal-powered and therefore takes up to 24 hours for even the slightest temperature adjustment to come into effect. We have set all room temperatures to +21°C and hope you will be most comfortable during your stay.

Guests craving an alcoholic beverage or a soft drink can tuck into our curated wine selection or frothy craft beers accompanied with a range of succulent local snacks, primarily sourced from prestigious local suppliers (fees apply).

The loggia works on an honesty bar system, where you purchase items by scanning the QR code attached to the products and check out via your phone.

Appreciate your perfect coffee moment with a drink created by the Sage Barista Pro espresso machine. Whether an espresso or latte, it is wonderfully delicious every single time. Watch the video (scan the QR code next to the coffee machine) to familiarise yourself with the device and a few steps to be taken for that glorious first sip of the morning coffee . Complimentary.

Elevated inches above the ground floor, our loggia is a cosy communal space for refreshments and relaxation. A lovely extended table offers a comfortable space to sit back with a drink or snack while admiring the landscapes outside.

The loggia offers a complimentary selection of coffee from the local roastery De Witte Zwaan and quality tea, plus filtered tap water. Enjoy your morning espresso with a gorgeous view of the garden.

Sauna:

‍The sauna is operated with a control unit located inside. To switch it on and off, click the power on/off icon on the bottom left of the unit. After the sauna use, we are kindly asking you to switch the sauna and the lights off. Thank you in advance for taking care of this.

Our Harvia Virta Combi is a combined electric heater and steamer that provides a variety of sauna experiences. You can select between a traditional Finnish sauna or a steam sauna. The Combi heater is the right choice for those who enjoy soft and humid steam and the atmosphere created by fragrances.

The water tank holds 5 litres – should you wish to enjoy the steam sauna experience, please fill up the water tank (swipe the image carousel for instructions). After the steaming session, the water from the reservoir must be drained.

Hot Tub:

1. Remove the cover and accurately place it next to the hot tub.

2. The hot tub temperature is preset at +37-38°C (+33-34°C in the summer); therefore, no changes are necessary.

3. You can enjoy the Water Jets flow system (water therapy jets) by switching on one of the two switches next to the hot tub. The other switch puts a relaxing ambient light on.

4. After finishing your hot tub session, please switch off the two switches, put the cover back on and attach the straps.

Originally a vegetable garden, the space has been transformed into a relaxing sanctuary for guests to disconnect in a spectacular setting. Lush grasses, native flowers and verdant shrubbery scatter around the grounds. Weathering steel garden borders encircle the perimeter for a rustic, industrial touch. Come nighttime, ambient lighting illuminates the garden, creating a vivid atmosphere to pass a pleasant evening outdoors.

These sprawling grounds host a multitude of tranquil areas: a lounge terrace, an open-air barbeque area, a wellness deck, a "cow terrace" and a hammock area. Secluded spaces provide a private open-air retreat, while shared areas evoke a more communal experience.

If you booked your stay with a complimentary breakfast included in your rate, we invite you to enjoy this morning delight at Tafel Twaalf just down the road at Kerkstraat 12 from 8.30am until 10.00am (suggested latest breakfast start time at 9.30am for you to enjoy the meal in no rush). Please let us know your preferred breakfast time via the "message" button on the portal.

If you booked a stay without breakfast, but for one or more mornings wish to indulge in our local breakfast offering, reach out to us latest the evening before for the availability.

Free Wi-Fi without password is accessible throughout the whole property, including the garden.

Free on-street parking is available outside our property and at a parking lot in front of the church at the nearby square. Please do not park on the pavement in front of the garage (it is a pedestrian zone), unless you are charging your car and the charging cable is not long enough.

Room 1: overlooking the front garden, Room 1 is located on the ground floor, on the left side from the property entrance.

Room 8: top-floor room with large windows and views of our lush garden. Take the main staircase to arrive to your room.

Room 2: set in a restored small barn, Room 2 is our property’s most secluded suite. Exit the main house through the back door and find your room in the side building in the garden.

Room 7: situated upstairs, this spacious room offers panoramic views of the garden. Take the main staircase to arrive to your room.

The property check-in time is 16.00. If you require an earlier check-in, please contact us and we will try to accommodate your request, should the availability allow.

To access the property, enter the code you had received via email shortly after booking confirmation. The code is valid for the duration of your stay and is the same for both entrance and room door. Should you have any issues with the lock and/or the access code, please let us know for a swift resolution.

The same code is also valid for the garage, where you can store your private bikes or pick up the e-bikes, which you may rent with us.
